Format guide
What is AVIF to PNG conversion?
AVIF is designed for efficient delivery, while PNG is a dependable format for editing, screenshots and transparent graphics. A PNG copy is useful when an application cannot decode AVIF or when a lossless working file is more important than a small download.
The conversion preserves the image dimensions and alpha channel. Pixels are decoded once and saved as PNG without copying EXIF or XMP fields. Because PNG is lossless, photographic output will commonly use more storage than the AVIF source.
When should I use it?
- Bring a transparent AVIF asset into a graphics tool that accepts PNG.
- Create a stable lossless source for annotations or repeated edits.
- Use an AVIF image in a presentation, template or upload form with limited support.
How it works
- 1Upload
Choose the supported file or files from your device.
- 2Process
The server validates the real file type and runs this operation.
- 3Download
Save the result. Temporary working files are deleted automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Does PNG keep AVIF transparency?
Yes. If the AVIF contains an alpha channel, the converted PNG keeps it.
Will the PNG look sharper?
It preserves decoded pixels but cannot restore detail already removed by the original AVIF compression.
Why did the file become much larger?
Lossless PNG is less space-efficient for photographs than modern AVIF compression, so larger files are expected.
