Format guide
What is JPG to WebP conversion?
JPG remains the most compatible photo format, but WebP can often deliver a similar-looking image with fewer bytes. That makes WebP useful for websites, product catalogs and applications where download speed matters.
The converter keeps the source dimensions and writes a high-quality WebP copy. Re-encoding cannot add detail to an already compressed JPEG, but it can produce a more web-efficient asset. EXIF, GPS and descriptive metadata are not transferred.
When should I use it?
- Optimize blog or landing-page photographs for faster page loads.
- Prepare product images for a CMS that supports modern WebP delivery.
- Create a smaller derivative while keeping the original JPG untouched.
How it works
- 1Upload
Choose the supported file or files from your device.
- 2Process
The server validates the real file type and runs this operation.
- 3Download
Save the result. Temporary working files are deleted automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Is WebP smaller than JPG?
Often yes at comparable visual quality, although the result depends on the image and the compression already applied to the JPG.
Do current browsers support WebP?
Yes. Current versions of major desktop and mobile browsers can display WebP images.
Will metadata be copied?
No. The result is rebuilt from decoded pixels without EXIF, GPS or XMP fields.
